Concert by the Rainier III Academy of Music

As part of the Academy's traditional Gala, a tribute will be paid to Prince Rainier III. An exceptional violin designed and made by the students and their violin making teacher, Roberto Masini, will be presented on this occasion. The Academy's violin making workshop was created on the initiative of Prince Rainier III and opened its doors on October 1st 1977.

In addition, a work by Nadia Boulanger for piano and orchestra will be performed as the first part of the Gala concert. Nadia Boulanger was appointed Chapel Master of the Prince's Palace for the funeral of Prince Louis II in 1949. She also participated in the elaboration and execution of the musical program for the ceremonies of the accession of Prince Rainier III in 1950, and of his marriage to Grace-Patricia Kelly in 1956. Nadia Boulanger was a French composer, teacher and conductor. She was a frequent visitor to the Principality and had a major influence on the musical life of the 20th century.
